Positive Ageing Month returns to Mid Ulster with activities for older residents
Mid Ulster District Council has announced the return of Positive Ageing Month this October, with a programme of activities for older residents across the district.
The programme includes autumn wreath-making, painting and craft workshops, low-impact aerobics, financial wellbeing online sessions, and 'Tea and Treats Around Mid Ulster – A Chat and a Cuppa' events offering opportunities to socialise.
Chair of Mid Ulster District Council, Councillor Deirdre Varsani, said the month is an opportunity to celebrate the contribution, experience and knowledge that older people bring to communities every day.
Varsani encouraged older residents to take part, noting the activities range from getting active and creative to learning new skills and meeting others over a cup of tea.
The month-long celebration begins on International Day of Older Persons on 1 October and continues across Mid Ulster throughout the month.
Many activities are free or low-cost. The financial wellbeing online session aims to help participants feel more confident about managing their finances.
The full programme is available on the Mid Ulster District Council website.
