Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council is moving forward with public consultation on future uses of the Metropole site in Portrush.

Council members and officers recently met with Betongpark, the organisation appointed to carry out a feasibility study for a potential skatepark at the site. Betongpark introduced its team and outlined its approach to consultation.

An urban sport stakeholder engagement session will take place on Wednesday, September 2, from 5pm to 7pm at Portrush Town Hall. Skateboarders, BMX riders, scooter riders and members of West Bay Rollers are invited to attend.

A wider public consultation is planned for later in September. It will include in-person sessions and an online survey, giving residents, local businesses, community groups and schools the chance to comment on what could be included at the Metropole site.

Feedback from both consultations will inform the feasibility work and the development of proposals. The council said further information on public consultation opportunities will be provided in due course.
