The Ulster Hospital Emergency Department will operate as normal over the August bank holiday weekend, remaining open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The hospital's Urgent Care Centre will also be open from 8am to 6pm throughout the bank holiday period. Patients attending the centre are not required to use the Phone First service.

The Urgent Care Centre at Lagan Valley Hospital will be closed on the bank holiday Monday. It is scheduled to reopen at 8am on Tuesday 1 September 2026. Anyone needing emergency care during the closure is advised to contact GP Out of Hours or attend their local emergency department.

At Downe Hospital, the Urgent Care Centre will be open from 8am to 6pm on the bank holiday. Patients must call (028) 4483 8091 before attending to be assessed and offered an appointment or redirected to a pharmacy, GP, or emergency department. The Downe Minor Injuries Unit will be open on Saturday 29 August and Sunday 30 August from 9am to 5pm, with the same phone-first requirement.

GP Out of Hours services for the North Down and Ards area can be reached on (028) 9182 2344, and for the Down and Lisburn area on (028) 9260 2204. These services are for urgent medical needs when GP surgeries are closed.
