A parade to mark the 45th anniversary of the 1981 Irish hunger strike took place in Derry. Participants assembled at the Rosemount Factory before setting off on the march.

The commemoration included a wreath-laying ceremony. Wreaths were laid at the event to remember the ten republican prisoners who died during the protest inside the Maze Prison.

The 1981 hunger strike, which lasted from March to October, was a campaign by republican inmates seeking the restoration of political status. Its anniversary is marked annually in nationalist and republican communities across Northern Ireland.
