Rose McCluskey, 86, of Fivemiletown will have her paintings on display at Fivemiletown Library and Enniskillen Library throughout September.

McCluskey began painting at 60 after attending classes in Lisnaskea. She started with watercolours before moving on to oils, and over 26 years she has produced about 500 works.

She is a sister of the late Tempo historian Johnny McKeagney, who also took up detailed drawing later in life.

Her subjects include landscapes, seascapes, boats, mountains, skyline and water, as well as portraits often made from photographs. One portrait depicts the poet Seamus Heaney, created from a photograph. Another prize-winning painting showed a cow in calf.

McCluskey entered competitions including the Enniskillen Agricultural Show, where she won multiple prizes and qualified several times for the All-Ireland final in Virginia, County Cavan. She placed fourth in that final at least once.

She currently lives at Slieve League House in Tempo. Her family said they will try to bring her to the exhibition. She has never sold any of her paintings, but has given some to close friends.
