Lacpatrick Dairies (NI) Ltd has been ordered to pay £115,000 in fines after pleading guilty at Strabane Magistrates Court on Thursday 13 August 2026. The company, based at 47 Berryhill Road, Artigarvan, Strabane, admitted seven charges under the Pollution Prevention and Control Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2013 and nine charges under the Water (Northern Ireland) Order 1999.

The court imposed £70,000 in fines for the permit breaches and £45,000 for water pollution offences. Northern Ireland Environment Agency inspections between February and September 2025 found repeated failures at the dairy site.

Inspectors observed a damaged pipe that allowed contaminated liquid to enter the surface water drainage system, a large milk spillage that reached the Glenmornan River through the same drainage route, and a degraded effluent line that allowed untreated milk to seep into surrounding ground.

Between May and July 2025, the company also breached permitted discharge limits from its effluent treatment plant into the Glenmornan River. The permit conditions required prompt remedial action, notification to the agency, and suspension of operations during ongoing environmental harm.

The company pleaded guilty to discharging polluting material into the Glenmornan River on multiple dates between February and September 2025. In total, the court recorded seven permit offences and nine water order offences across three separate court cases.
