Investigators from the Police Ombudsman arrested a serving PSNI officer on Thursday 30 July 2026. The officer is suspected of misconduct in public office, relating to an alleged abuse of position for sexual purposes.

A search operation was also carried out in connection with the arrest. The action followed a referral made by the Chief Constable to the Police Ombudsman in May 2026.
