A monthly community market in Glenarm brings together local makers, food producers and traditional crafts while also raising money for two charities.

The free market takes place on the first Saturday of every month in Eglinton Yard Barn. Organiser Deb Biddleston said the event highlights skills within the village, particularly through a stall that pools products from multiple small-scale makers who could not each run their own stand.

The ‘Made in Glenarm’ stall sells ceramics, artwork, greetings cards, textiles and handcrafted woodwork, all produced in the village.

Braid Farm Shop offers home-produced free-range pork, bacon and sausages at each market, while a hot food van serves burgers, bacon baps and sausage sandwiches.

Lorna Shannon, a second-generation textile artist, demonstrates spinning wool from native breed sheep. Visitors can buy hand-spun yarn and finished woven or knitted items.

The market also supports two charities. Maureen Morrow’s stall sells handmade cards and gifts with all proceeds going to Air Ambulance Northern Ireland. Cora’s Candies, run by a schoolgirl with help from her grandfather, raises funds for Angel Wishes Children’s Cancer Charity by selling confectionery.

Free parking is available and sheltered picnic benches are provided. The market is dog-friendly.

The next market runs on Saturday 1 August from 10:30am to 3:30pm.
