Man accused of Altnagelvin scanner theft re-admitted to bail after curfew breach
Liam Murray, 21, of Portadown, was arrested for breaching a curfew condition by 15 minutes. Murray is facing trial at Derry Crown Court charged with the theft of a scanner from Altnagelvin Hospital.
The breach was detected when police visited his Portadown address at 9:15 pm. His curfew had begun at 9 pm.
Defence solicitor Paddy MacDermott told the court that Murray, originally from Ballykelly, had travelled to Coleraine to arrange a medical appointment. He missed the last train back to Portadown and could not contact anyone because his phone battery was dead.
The solicitor stated that Murray had made an effort to act responsibly.
The prosecution opposed bail, highlighting a risk of reoffending and noting that Murray has 105 previous convictions.
Despite the opposition, bail was granted again. Murray is due to appear at Derry Crown Court on July 10.
