Spencer Lawson has retired from Royal School Armagh after 29 years of service.

A former pupil and Old Armachian, Mr Lawson worked as Sixth Form Study Supervisor. The school described his approach as gentlemanly and firm but fair, creating an environment where pupils could flourish.

He maintained a connection to his old house, d'Arcy, attending assemblies in the Big School Room while wearing the house cap he had as a pupil.

Beyond the classroom, Mr Lawson dedicated 27 years to the school's rugby programme. He served as a touch judge and senior team manager, joining tours to South Africa, Argentina, Australia and Canada. He was part of the coaching team that guided the 1st XV to the Schools' Cup victory in 2004.

The school said his commitment and quiet dedication touched generations and that his legacy would endure.
