A new Junior Girls' Orange Lodge catering to girls aged 6 to 17 has been established in Derrygonnelly, County Fermanagh. The formation of JWLOL No. 56 Erne West formed part of the 80th anniversary celebrations of the Derrygonnelly Women's Loyal Orange Lodge No. 179.

The lodge was constituted during a ceremony at Derrygonnelly Orange Hall. The officers appointed include Worthy President Norma Gillespie, Worthy Vice President Kelly Wylie, Worthy Secretary Paula Taylor, Worthy Treasurer Lynda Magee, and Inner Guard Sharon Burke. The Bible, bannerette and collarettes were dedicated by Parish Reader Viola Dourish of WLOL No. 179.

Thirteen junior members were initiated. They will be supervised by a team from the parent lodge: Naomi Hassard, Diane Farlow, Carly Graham, and Wendy Graham, who also serves as Senior Treasurer.

Senior Orange Order officials attended the event, including Grand Mistress Joan Beggs, Grand Secretary Anna Moffett, Deputy Grand Secretary Gillian McIntyre, and Grand Lodge Tyler Eunice Cuddy.

The Worthy Mistress of the parent lodge emphasised the importance of passing on traditions to the next generation. Following the formal proceedings, members of the new lodge paraded through Derrygonnelly village accompanied by Ballyreagh Silver Band and Ballinamallard Accordion Band.

JWLOL No. 56 Erne West will hold meetings on the fourth Friday of each month. Worthy President Norma Gillespie wished the officers, superintendents and members well as they begin this new chapter.
