Newry Show Set for 156th Edition in June 2026
The Newry Agricultural Society has confirmed that the 2026 Newry Show will take place on Saturday, June 27.
The event, which started in 1869, will be held at the society’s grounds on Derrywilligan Road in Bessbrook.
Chairman Brian Lockhart stated that preparations are underway for the 156th show, which will feature livestock competitions across several categories including cattle, sheep, horses, pigs, goats, and pygmy goats.
Home industries, horticulture, and a dog show will also be part of the competitive programme.
Entertainment during the day will be provided by the Commons Silver Band, DJ Sammy, the Dixieland Jazz Band, and Two Step.
Each year the show partners with a local charity; for 2026 the beneficiary is Pulmonary Fibrosis Northern Ireland.
Sponsorship has been received from a number of businesses and organisations, with Newry, Mourne and Down District Council providing support and Share Energy acting as a key sponsor.
Mr Lockhart said agricultural shows play an important role in promoting the farming and food sectors, which are a significant part of the local economy in the South Down and Armagh area.
He added that public interest in how food is produced makes such events valuable for the entire community.
