Planning officials have approved an extension at Mullabrack Orange Hall on the Mullaghbrack Road in Markethill.

The application, lodged by R.E. Quinn Architects Ltd on behalf of Mullabrack LOL 1406, sought permission for a new storeroom and an external covered area. The additions will remain ancillary to the existing community hall and be contained within its current curtilage.

The storeroom extension will be built at the rear of the hall, while the covered area is sited on the north gable. Planning officers noted that the works are subordinate in scale to the main building and make efficient use of the site.

St John’s Church, a listed building, is located nearby. The Historic Environment Division was consulted and confirmed the extension would not impact its special character.

Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council’s planning department stated the proposal complies with all relevant policies and recommended approval.
