Pauline Walmsley, the Chief Executive of the early childhood organisation Early Years, has been appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE).

The award was presented by Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal during an investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle.

Ms Walmsley received the honour in recognition of her services to the education and development of young children. Her inclusion was announced in the 2026 New Year Honours List.

She described the investiture as a privilege and said the recognition reflected the sustained efforts of colleagues and partners who share a commitment to improving outcomes for children.

The OBE is awarded for major contributions at a national level or a leading role at a regional level in fields including charitable and public service.

Ms Walmsley highlighted the organisation’s Reggio Emilia-inspired programmes and its work to raise educational outcomes for children facing disadvantage. She also noted its efforts to promote respect for diversity through local, national, and international programmes.
