Details have been confirmed for the annual Youth Parade in Portadown, including assembly points, timings, route and traffic restrictions.

The parade is divided into Junior, Intermediate and Senior sections. It will assemble on Hanover Street and Carleton Street at 2pm and move off at 2.20pm. Both streets will be closed to traffic and vehicles will not be permitted to stop for drop-offs. Organisers have advised spectators to use alternative parking at Fair Green car park, William Street car park or Magowan Buildings.

The route proceeds via Church Street, Market Street, High Street and Castle Street, then returns along High Street to St Mark’s Church. The Intermediate section turns into Thomas Street to the Methodist Church, while the Senior parade crosses the Bann Bridge to Edenderry Presbyterian Church. All services are scheduled to end at 3.50pm.

A return parade will set off around 4pm, with a salute at the War Memorial as it passes. VIPs will take the salute on High Street during the return. The event is expected to conclude by 4.30pm.

Motorists are being warned to expect delays and urged to consider alternative routes. A spokesperson noted the presence of very young children on parade and asked drivers to exercise caution, patience and understanding while travelling in the vicinity.

Organisers praised the conduct of participants at last year’s event.
