Pupils from Bellaghy Primary School visited Seamus Heaney HomePlace on Thursday for Poetry Day Ireland.

The free programme included two workshops on creative writing and art and design.

Belfast poet Niamh McNally led sessions on sensory language, memory and place.

HomePlace Creative Learning Officers ran an art workshop on visual interpretations of home and belonging.

Pupils presented their work in a closing collaborative session.

Sarah Cullen, Education Officer at Seamus Heaney HomePlace, said the pupils responded thoughtfully to the theme of home.

The event formed part of Poetry Day Ireland 2026 and HomePlace community engagement activities.
