Two Northern Ireland Ambulance Service staff received a bravery award for their actions during a stabbing incident.

EMT Darren Leonard and Paramedic Patrick Donaghey were presented with the Derry Journal Bravery Award on 21 May 2026.

The pair responded to the incident and took actions that saved the patient while also securing the safety of the patient's wife and son.

The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service stated that the award recognised their courage and professionalism during the response.

The service noted that the staff demonstrated compassion for patients and dedication to their roles.
