Litter cleared from Browns Bay after bank holiday crowds
Council staff removed a lorry load of litter from Browns Bay in Islandmagee.
The waste was collected after warm weather drew visitors during the second Bank Holiday on 25 May.
Items found included plastic, cans, bottles and food waste.
Mid and East Antrim Borough Council stated the materials were left on the sand and posed risks to wildlife and the coastline.
The council urged visitors to carry rubbish bags, take all items home, use reusable containers and avoid single-use plastics.
Council staff noted that responsibility for protecting beaches rests with everyone who uses them.
