A 43-year-old driver appeared at Ballymena Magistrates' Court on 21 May after an incident in Islandmagee.

The court heard that shortly after midnight on 12 April the vehicle struck a mini-roundabout at Kilcairn and came to rest on its roof.

Jordan Knowles Bonar, of Kilcairn, Islandmagee, recorded a breath alcohol reading of 83 microgrammes per 100 millilitres. The legal limit is 35.

Police also found a small quantity of cannabis on the driver.

Bonar was charged with driving with excess alcohol and possession of a Class B drug.

He had eight prior driving offences on record.

The court imposed a 14-month driving disqualification and a £400 fine.
