Free blood pressure checks offered at MACE Lurgan
The Northern Ireland Chest Heart and Stroke charity will offer free blood pressure checks at MACE Lurgan on Wednesday, June 3 from 10am to 1pm.
Head of Public Health Fidelma Carter said over 299,800 adults in Northern Ireland have a diagnosis of high blood pressure, while an estimated 120,000 more have the condition without knowing it.
Carter described high blood pressure as the Silent Killer because it often produces no symptoms until a stroke or heart attack occurs.
The charity said the checks are a quick way for people to find out their reading and may reduce the risk of serious illness.
People unable to attend the event can book an appointment with a GP practice or visit a local pharmacy that offers monitoring services.
NICHS also advised those who can afford it to consider buying a home blood pressure monitor.
