Cullybackey man admits theft of £2,900
A Cullybackey man has pleaded guilty to theft of £2,900 at Ballymena Magistrates Court.
Mark Purdy, 43, of Kilmakevit Road, entered the plea on Thursday.
The offence took place between January 1 and September 12 last year.
Purdy was originally charged with stealing £3,500 but the amount was amended to £2,900.
A second charge of stealing make-up and perfume was withdrawn by prosecutors.
The court heard that the victim is vulnerable and Purdy was acting as a quasi carer at the time.
The £2,900 has not yet been repaid, though a defence barrister said Purdy plans to pay it back.
The case was adjourned to June 11 for a pre-sentence report.
