Minister Launches New School Construction and Conference Funding Scheme
Education Minister Paul Givan has begun construction of a new £10 million school building at Mary Queen of Peace Primary School in Glenravel.
The project will deliver nine new classrooms and bring the school onto a single site after years of operating across split locations. Work started in March 2026 and is due to finish in July 2027.
Givan said the investment will provide modern facilities to support teaching and learning for current and future pupils in the area.
Principal Malachy Conlon described the occasion as a significant step for the school and its community.
Separately, Givan has invited schools across Northern Ireland to apply to host Research-Informed Conferences in the 2026-27 academic year.
The initiative forms part of the department's Making Best Practice, Common Practice programme and offers successful schools up to £5,000 to organise events with expert workshops and collaboration activities.
Applications must be submitted by 5pm on 8 June 2026.
