St Columb’s College has congratulated former pupil Martin O’Neill after he led Celtic to their 56th Scottish league title.

O’Neill guided the club to eight consecutive victories to secure the championship, including a 3-1 win over Hearts at Parkhead.

The Kilrea man previously won the league three times with Celtic and reached the UEFA Cup final with the club in the early 2000s.

He also won two European Cup titles as a player with Nottingham Forest.

The school said he attended as a boarder in the 1960s and posted a message marking the achievement.

O’Neill is a Derry native.
