A rally took place on the Peace Bridge in Derry to mark the 78th anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba.

The event focused on the displacement of Palestinians that occurred in 1948.

Nualla Crilly told the rally that the displacement did not begin in 2023 and described it as a continuation of events from the start of the 20th century.

Majida Alaskari said her family had been forced to leave their home in 1948 due to fire and that 750,000 people were displaced at that time.

Alaskari also stated that she lost 32 family members in a bomb attack in October 2023.

Eamonn McCann said Israel had passed a law allowing the death penalty and public trials for those involved in the October 2023 attacks, with the bill receiving 93 votes in favour and 0 against.

McCann described the legislation as a scandal.
