An event for Palestinian Prisoners' Day occurred at the Felons Club in Belfast on Friday. It began at 10.30am.

Dr Jilan Wahba Abdalmajid, Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Ireland, spoke at the event. Peadar Whelan from Coiste na nIarchimí encouraged attendance. He stated the group organises the event to highlight Israel's detention of around 10,000 Palestinians in difficult conditions and to show support for Palestine.

Whelan added that experiences of republican prisoners in British jails during protests and hunger strikes showed how global focus weakened efforts to portray their cause as criminal. The group aims to draw attention to Israel's actions toward Palestinians through this event.

West Belfast MLA Pat Sheehan also addressed the gathering. He discussed Israel's recent Knesset vote on executing Palestinian prisoners as a breach of international law and part of collective punishment. Sheehan called for global action against Israel's violations of human rights.
