The West Belfast Partnership Board organised its 2026 Environment Awards at the Roddy McCorley Club. The event recognised projects by local schools, community organisations and residents' groups focused on community growing, sustainability and eco-friendly initiatives.

Entries covered biodiversity, recycling, green spaces and environmental awareness. Terry Quinn, Strategic Health Co-ordinator with the board, noted the broad range of initiatives and the volunteering effort behind them. He stated that such projects improve landscapes, support wellbeing and build communities.

Quinn thanked sponsors for enabling the event. MP Paul Maskey attended and presented awards to winners. Maskey highlighted the contributions of children and local groups to community wellbeing in West Belfast.

The board observed rising participation as a sign of local commitment to environmental protection.
