City of Derry Jazz Festival Marks 25th Anniversary
The City of Derry Jazz Festival ended yesterday after its 25th anniversary edition. The event filled Derry streets with jazz, swing, blues and soul music over the weekend.
Local and international artists performed at gigs and street sessions. Derry City and Strabane District Council organised the festival with support from Diageo and Share Energy.
The local hospitality industry hosted events at hotels, bars and restaurants. Mayor of Derry and Strabane Councillor Ruairi McHugh thanked performers, organisers, businesses, sponsors and attendees for their contributions.
Interim Head of Culture with the council Jacqueline Whoriskey noted the event's importance. She credited partnerships between the council, hospitality sector, artists and sponsors.
Plans for the next festival are in progress.
