Funeral Held in Belfast for Sean Clinton, Accused in Troubles-Era Killings
The funeral of Sean Clinton, a former Provisional IRA member from Belfast's Ormeau Road area, occurred on Monday morning. The service took place at St Agnes Church in the west of the city.
Mourners carried the coffin, draped in an Irish tricolour, along Andersonstown Road. A lone piper led the procession to the church.
Clinton faced accusations in the July 1994 murder of UDA members Joe Bratty and Raymond Elder. A judge cleared him and a co-accused.
Security forces had suspected Bratty and Elder of involvement in sectarian killings. Those included the 1992 Sean Graham bookmaker shooting that killed five people.
Clinton was also a suspect in the 2015 murder of former IRA member Kevin McGuigan in Belfast's Short Strand area.
Clinton was a father of four.
