Courts: Former soldier jailed over TikTok threats as Larne driver banned for four years
BALLYMENA: A 29-year-old Larne man was banned from driving for four years, given a five-month suspended jail term and fined £50 after driving dangerously through Larne while unfit, mounting footpaths and travelling the wrong way around a mini-roundabout. He was also convicted of insurance and licence offences and possession of cannabis, with the court describing his driving as 'appalling'.
BELFAST: A 34-year-old former soldier with more than 100 previous convictions was jailed for five months after breaching a restraining order by taunting his former partner during a live TikTok broadcast, in which he made references to previous offences he had committed against her. District Judge Anne Marshall said there was an extensive domestic violence history and that the victim was 'obviously living in fear', and imposed an additional three-year restraining order - though Burns was later freed on bail pending appeal.
