Derryvullen North Parish Church in Irvinestown presented cheques totalling £10,000 to two charities during a Carol Service on December 21.

Churchwardens Derick Dunlop and Linda Thompson handed over £5,000 to Avril Stubbs of Air Ambulance NI. They also gave £5,000 to William Irvine for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.

The money came from visitor donations at the Threads of Remembrance exhibition. The event took place over two weekends in November at the church.

The parish Craft Group, coordinated by Derick Dunlop, organised the exhibition. It included crafts, historical items and details on about 150 men from north Fermanagh who died in the First World War.

Those men came from Protestant and Catholic communities in roughly equal numbers.
