Moira Doherty has taken up the role of Permanent Secretary of the Northern Ireland Executive Office this week.

Jayne Brady, Head of the Northern Ireland Civil Service, announced the appointment. Doherty had led the department on an interim basis since February.

She joined the Northern Ireland Civil Service Board as part of the appointment.

The position followed an external recruitment competition held late last year.
