Health Minister Mike Nesbitt Visits Craigavon Area Hospital
Health Minister Mike Nesbitt visited Craigavon Area Hospital. He met staff from the Trauma and Orthopaedics department, Maternity Unit, and Healthcare Science team.
Trust Chair Eileen Mullan welcomed Mr Nesbitt. The tour started in Trauma and Orthopaedics. Staff discussed efforts to improve patient flow and cut waiting times.
Mr Nesbitt learned that regional investments in trauma services help the Trust tackle elective and emergency backlogs.
In the Maternity Unit, staff explained the Emerald Continuity of Midwifery Care model. The model offers expectant mothers steady personalised support through pregnancy.
The Healthcare Science team presented their diagnostic and support services. These services aid clinical decisions and patient care pathways.
Mr Nesbitt said the visit let him see how teams work to improve patient outcomes. He noted the Trust's use of trauma service investments to reduce waiting times.
He praised maternity staff efforts and thanked Healthcare Science staff for advances in diagnostic testing and service improvements.
Deputy Chief Executive Colm McCafferty said the visit highlighted staff dedication across services.
