Donnelly Group, Northern Ireland's largest independently owned vehicle retailer, has become an authorised dealer for BYD electric vehicles. The showrooms in Ballymena and Dungannon will stock the range from mid-April.

BYD operates in more than 70 countries. The company sold over 4.6 million new energy vehicles globally in 2025. Battery-electric vehicle sales increased 27 percent to more than 2.25 million units. BYD surpassed Ford and Tesla in total plug-in vehicle sales that year.

Dave Sheeran, Managing Director at Donnelly Group, stated that BYD fits an emerging segment in the Northern Ireland motoring market. He noted that it provides customers with affordable, quality electric vehicle options.

Liam Howel, Deputy Head of Retailer Marketing at BYD UK, said Donnelly Group joins an expanding UK network. He pointed to strong growth in Northern Ireland and anticipated further acceleration with the new Ballymena and Dungannon sites.

Specialist staff will assist customers at the Ballymena showroom on vehicle specifications, charging solutions and finance options.

The dealerships will serve motorists in Mid and East Antrim and surrounding areas.
