Driving instructors in Armagh city plan to raise lesson prices to around £45 per hour starting May 2026. The increase of about £5 per hour follows years without changes. Each instructor sets fees independently.

Lynda Wright, an instructor with 27 years of experience, cited road potholes as a key factor. She faced a £2,100 repair bill after mechanics spent three days on her car. Wright noted that car maintenance and repair costs have climbed sharply.

Instructors also pointed to broader cost-of-living pressures and higher fuel prices. Wright indicated fuel costs will stay elevated for at least a year. Pupils should confirm rates with their specific instructor.

Most instructors require 24 hours notice for cancellations.
