E.On, one of the UK's largest electricity suppliers, recorded a 62% increase in solar panel sales this month compared to the previous month. Website visits to the company's solar page rose by a similar amount during the first week of March.

E.On UK chief executive Chris Norbury stated that customers seek solutions to reduce energy prices on a sustainable long-term basis.

The sales spike coincides with higher energy costs linked to conflict in the Middle East. Northern Ireland's future energy supply, like the rest of the UK, will rely on a mix of sources including fossil fuels, nuclear reactors, and renewables.

Solar generation has seen significant engineering improvements and will contribute more to power needs over time.
