A family-run shoe shop on Main Street in Newcastle has reached 90 years in business. McCready Shoe Style opened on 26 March 1936. Robert McCready from Rathfriland founded the store.

Six years after opening, Robert passed the business to his son Ernie and daughter-in-law Edith. They raised their family above the shop. Their daughter Edna took over in the late 1970s. She remains involved today. Edna's daughter Joanne Sloan manages daily operations.

The shop expanded in 1993 to increase retail space. It stocks quality footwear and maintains customer service. Family generations and repeat customers from the area support the business.

Edna attributes success to hard work, staff, and adaptation to change. The shop hosts a special shopping event with in-store bargains until Sunday.
