ANTRIM: A 24-year-old man appeared at Antrim Magistrates' Court, sitting in Ballymena, facing six charges of possessing indecent images of children and one charge of possessing a prohibited image of a child.

ANTRIM: A convicted killer who absconded while on temporary day release from HMP Magilligan in December 2024 and was extradited from the Republic of Ireland was sentenced to 12 months in prison, to be served half in custody and half on licence. James Meehan, 56, who is serving a life sentence for the 2007 murder of Jim McFadden, had been unlawfully at large for approximately one year before his extradition.

ARDS: A woman from Comber was sentenced after driving whilst unfit and crashing into a property on Old Shore Road in Newtownards, before kicking a paramedic in the abdomen and behaving in a disorderly manner at hospital.

COLERAINE: A Portrush man has been charged with common assault, causing damage to a complainant's car, causing unnecessary suffering to a dog, and attempting to damage or destroy a dog belonging to the complainant, following alleged incidents on 28 and 29 January this year. Christopher McCrory, 39, did not appear at Coleraine Magistrates' Court and the case was adjourned to April.
