Fermanagh and Omagh District Council installed new parking payment machines in 13 Pay and Display off-street car parks in Enniskillen and Omagh.

A council spokesperson said the machines replace units in use for 20 years that reached the end of their lifespan.

The machines add contactless card payment to cash and RingGo methods.

Users enter vehicle registration details at the machines. Traffic attendants check payments with handheld devices, as with RingGo. Drivers do not need to display paper tickets.

The solar-powered machines remove the need for non-recyclable paper tickets to cut carbon emissions in line with council environmental goals.

Local car park users made complaints about the machines.
