The Cushendun Building Preservation Trust has received £19,997 from The National Lottery Community Fund’s Awards for All programme. The grant supports the Old Church Centre, Cushendun's only year-round accessible community venue, through 2026.

Funding follows the closure of the Parochial Hall in the coastal village. It covers part of the Centre Manager's salary to maintain operations and expand reach.

The "Cushendun Connected" project will offer free and low-cost activities. These include coffee mornings, social gatherings, intergenerational projects, creative workshops, health and wellbeing events, and seasonal celebrations.

The manager will support volunteers, coordinate user groups, and handle daily facility management. Demand for activities and shared space in the centre has increased.

William Colvin, Chair of CBPT, stated that the grant provides a major lift for the village. He noted the centre serves as a key spot for community connection and support.
