Small Dog Euthanised After Rottweiler Attack in Armagh City
A small family dog named April was put to sleep after an unleashed Rottweiler attacked it in Armagh city on Saturday morning. The incident occurred on Dawson Street during a regular walk with its owner a young woman who sustained injuries.
The dog's owner posted on social media asking local residents to stay alert while walking in the area. She noted her daughter took the same route several times daily for years when a man with the unleashed Rottweiler approached and the dog attacked.
Armagh Sinn Féin councillor Sarah Duffy expressed sympathy for the owner and those involved. Duffy called the event distressing and reminded dog owners of their duty to control pets in public to safeguard others.
Duffy asked witnesses or those with information to contact PSNI on 101 quoting reference 489. Police seek dash-cam CCTV or doorbell footage from anyone in the area at the time.
