Fire Damages Newcastle Seafront Businesses, Owner Vows Quick Reopening
A fire broke out in the kitchen of a Central Promenade complex in Newcastle just after 6am on Saturday. The premises include O’Hare’s and Hugh McCann’s businesses. Both floors sustained significant damage.
Fire crews from Belfast joined local teams to fight the blaze. Jack O’Hare, owner of O’Hare’s, credits their quick response and skills for limiting further destruction.
O’Hare described the incident as devastating for his family business, which has operated for over 50 years. His daughters represent the fourth generation involved.
He expressed lasting gratitude to the firefighters for their courage and efficiency in saving the buildings. O’Hare also thanked his staff and the local community for offers of support.
The owner plans to repair the damage and reopen as soon as possible. He stated the business owes this to its customers and employees.
O’Hare noted the fire disrupted plans for upcoming events including rugby matches, Mother’s Day, and Saint Patrick’s Day.
