Tyrone Farmer Enters Not Guilty Pleas to Animal Welfare Charges
A farmer from Caledon in Tyrone faces 15 animal welfare charges related to incidents between October 23, 2023, and April 8, 2024. David Reid, aged 57, of Tannaghlane Road, is accused of causing unnecessary suffering to 15 cattle. The charges also include four counts of failing to dispose of bodies of farmed animals not slaughtered for human consumption.
Reid faces four counts of not taking reasonable steps to ensure the needs of his animals. He is charged with four counts of failing to produce a veterinary medicine record when required. A barrister entered not guilty pleas to all charges on his behalf at Dungannon Magistrates Court.
District Judge Francis Rafferty set a contest hearing for May 11.
