Heating System at Londonderry Mental Health Unit Restored After Days of Faults
The Western Health and Social Care Trust has restored the heating system at Grangewood mental health inpatient unit on the Gransha site in Londonderry to a thermal comfort level.
The trust reported issues with heating and hot water at the facility over several days. Four days prior, the trust apologised to patients for discomfort from intermittent heating problems.
A trust spokesperson stated that the estates team is conducting ongoing maintenance on the heating system. Temperatures at Grangewood will continue to be monitored, with further remedial work as needed.
The trust apologised again for any discomfort or inconvenience to service users. Last week, the trust noted that hot water had been restored but heating problems persisted intermittently.
The estates team carried out repairs and monitored the situation to ensure patient comfort. Last month, a burst pipe at the trust's Altnagelvin hospital in Londonderry disrupted the water supply, leading to bottled water being provided to patients.
