Fermanagh Quarrying Firm Details Production of Drainage Stone and Ag Lime
RJ Mitten & Sons Ltd operates two hardrock quarries in County Fermanagh at Rockfield near Lisnaskea and Magheradunbar near Enniskillen.
The family-run business has quarried for over 50 years. It supplies materials to construction agriculture and manufacturing sectors in Fermanagh border counties and further areas.
Products include Ag Lime manufactured sand and aggregates for construction agriculture readymix and precast industries.
Production starts with blasting limestone followed by crushing screening and washing.
Blasted limestone goes through a primary crusher then secondary and tertiary plants. The crushed stone separates into sizes via screening and washing.
Single-size chips serve land drainage after washing removes dust and fines. These chips support gravel tunnelling and open land drains for water flow to collector drains and pipes.
Crusher run products build roads and buildings.
Ag Lime results from tertiary lime mills grinding limestone to fine powder for land spreading. The powder stores undercover before delivery.
The firm produces Ag Lime to Department of Agriculture standards with regular testing by the department.
