ABC Borough Council Launches Four-Week Consultation on Cemetery Strategy
Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council will hold a public consultation on cemeteries from Monday, March 16, to Monday, April 13, 2026.
The consultation includes an online survey and a drop-in session at the Brownlow Hub in Lurgan on Wednesday, March 18, from 4pm to 6pm.
Council operates 15 cemeteries in the borough. Demand for cemetery plots is expected to rise with population growth. Some church burial grounds lack space.
Council developed a draft Cemetery Strategy in 2025. A council spokesperson invited residents to provide feedback on the strategy through the online questionnaire at armaghbanbridgecraigavon.citizenspace.com.
Feedback will form part of a report. Respondents will not be personally identified.
The consultation covers provision of a crematorium, cemetery accessibility, services for different faiths, and the bereavement service.
Contact the Cemetery Team at 028 3833 9059 for the draft strategy or consultation in another format. The consultation closes at 4pm on April 13, 2026.
