Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council approved a three-month funding extension for Citywatch CCTV NI at its March Regeneration and Growth Committee meeting. The decision awaits full council ratification.

The council funds public realm CCTV monitoring in the area. The PSNI provides accommodation for the service. Citywatch CCTV NI, a local social enterprise, currently handles camera monitoring.

Citywatch notified the council of its plan to end operations. The extension ensures CCTV coverage continues during the provider change.

Council members received an update on monitoring developments at the meeting. A tender process will select the new service provider.

The council will publish answers to common questions about the transition and service continuity.

Council officials noted appreciation for Citywatch's past service. They anticipate benefits from consolidating CCTV across council properties to support ratepayer services.
