Tyrone Crafted Glassworks Closes Dungannon Site, Plans Belfast Relocation
Tyrone Crafted Glassworks will close its Dungannon premises this weekend. The company plans to relocate to Belfast to operate as a tourist attraction offering glassblowing and glasscutting workshops.
The business continues to supply glass to the local area for events. It sells remaining stock at discount prices to clear the current site.
Tyrone Crafted Glassworks started after Tyrone Crystal closed in 2010. Former staff from that company formed the new venture, which revived glassmaking in Dungannon.
A company spokesperson stated the closure occurs this weekend but supply to local events persists. The firm attracted 1000 visitors over 18 months through a project funded by the National Heritage Lottery Fund. The spokesperson noted insufficient support in Dungannon despite its glassmaking history since 1771.
The team includes Gary, Ciara, Jim, Macker and others. They thanked visitors and promised updates on the Belfast facility.
