Blue Lights Production Closes Roads in Belfast Beechmount for Fourth Series Filming
Production for the fourth series of BBC police drama Blue Lights began in Belfast's Beechmount area on Monday. Filming continues through the rest of the week.
The series centres on probationary PSNI officers and their mentors at the fictional Blackthorn station. Declan Lawn and Adam Patterson created and wrote the show, set in the present day. The first series covered new officers' experiences. The second examined the same group addressing a loyalist feud a year on. A third series broadcast in September 2025.
Actors Siân Brooke and Martin McCann appeared on location for a scene depicting a loyalist protest.
Road closures support the work. Beechmount Parade shut from its junction with Beechmount Avenue. Beechmount Drive restricted from Falls Road to Clowney Street, 7am to 9pm daily until Friday.
Location manager Robert Huffam informed residents that traffic controls reduce overnight after daily filming, except the full closure on Beechmount Drive for continuity needs. Property access stays open despite delays. Staff assist on site to limit issues.
