Air Ambulance NI will host its 5K Runway Run at City of Derry Airport on Saturday, April 25, 2025. The event starts at 8 p.m. and allows participants to run or walk the airport runway. H&A Group sponsors the fundraiser, which requires a 25 pound registration fee and a minimum 100 pound sponsorship or donation per entrant.

Entrants receive a technical running top, finisher's medal and chip-timed results. Organisers provide warm-up activities, refreshments and free parking. Registration opened recently with limited spots available.

The Keys family plans to attend. Damien Keys suffered a brain bleed from a 2022 fall from height and spent weeks in hospital. Air Ambulance NI and medical teams aided his recovery. The family urges public involvement to support the charity's work.

Kerry Anderson, head of fundraising at Air Ambulance NI, noted the event raises funds to reach patients in critical condition. The service partners with the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service to deliver pre-hospital care via helicopter. It attends serious incidents and emergencies about twice daily.

Public donations cover the charity's 3 million pound annual costs. Air Ambulance NI operates the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service across Northern Ireland.
