Broughshane Resident Raises £14,530 for Air Ambulance NI Through Raffles
Norma Craig, a resident of Broughshane in County Antrim, has raised £14,530 for Air Ambulance NI since 2020. The charity operates in partnership with the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service and attends emergencies across the region an average of twice each day.
This year, Craig generated £3,060 through raffles held during tribute nights at Ballygally Castle Hotel. The events included performances of Motown, ABBA, country music and rock music.
Craig obtains all raffle prizes independently. She credits General Manager Scott Weatherup, hotel staff, Jim Weatherup and Alison Weatherup for support during the events.
Kerry Anderson, head of fundraising at Air Ambulance NI, noted the charity requires £3 million each year from community efforts to maintain operations.
Craig visits the charity's airbase annually to deliver funds and views the helicopter. The service supports the region even if individuals never require it.
Air Ambulance NI organises further events, such as the 5k Runway Run at City of Derry Airport on 25 April 2026 at 8pm. Entry costs £25 per person with a £100 fundraising target.
